Phosphorescence..
last night on warriewood Beach i saw it, probably been a few years since i last
we used to see it all the time when we came back late from the boat and it was dark and the wooden oars would pick up blue light as they splashed into the water.

The light is emitted when a flavin pigment, luciferin, is oxidized in the presence of luciferase, an enzyme also produced by the organism (the chemical system is like that of fireflies).
