you may remember my blog from last year here about traditions.
Well, I have decided to, in tradition, to post about it again.
Cormorant has been in our family for 32 years.
27 feet of sailing beauty.
My parents, I am pretty sure met on it*, racing in Sydney Harbour in their late twenties.
My mum ordered a rum and coke at the bar
my papa thought "uh oh"
His mate made him ride home on his motorbike to get his 2nd Helmet so he could take her home
they got married in their flat and my mum had "hello sailor" engraved in her wedding ring.
they have been together ever since.
and we have had the yacht ever since.
Growing up on sailing in Sydney harbour every weekend has made me:
1. in love with the sea
2. not afraid of sharks
3. enjoy the wind in my hair and sails
4. feel free
5. love stale crackers and tinned muscels and oysters.
6. a love of cormorants
7. a drinker of rum.
so this year the yacht has been anti-fouled again ready for summer! I can't wait to feel the wind in my hair and jump squeeling off into the ocean! happy summer!
*note: they didn't meet on it apparently, they met on my grandparents boat called Saga. I was told last week I was probably conceived on it! No wonder I have a love of the ocean!
