thirties welcome.

I turned 30 in August.
I had a Chalet Chic - outrageous winter knit party at my friends house in Bondi.
Nearly all my best-est friends were there. I am a lucky lady to have such beautiful, hilarious, awesome friends and family. Who all looked amazing in their winter warmers. One of my cousins even came in full ski suit with skis! It was the best party ever!
There is one photo of me where I don't think I could look any happier!

So 2011, I turned 30 and 1 in the same year. Nice.

Shop 1st Birthday

POP!
I can't believe I have had the shop for 1 year.
Time has flown by.
I feel exhausted, but happy. Being part of the Manly community, meeting all the lovely locals, making new friends, I feel so lucky. So lucky. I am living my dreams.
Sometimes it seems like a nightmare, Ha! when I can't stitch quick enough, when my shoulders are sore form hunching over my machine, when my fingers have pin pricks all over them, and when I am tired of my own company.
And then...
I smile.
Because...
I get to do what I love and get to share in the lives of others and hopefully make this world a little brighter, a little lighter and a little bit more beautiful.
Thankyou to all that have made this year such a SUCCESS.
Thankyou Murray Fraser for his Photography for me and daily for us all.

Bicycle Portraits

I came across this story via Miss Moss a South African design fashion Blog that I love reading.
I wanted to share it.
"Stan Engelbrecht & Nic Grobler are publishing the best 165 portraits and stories of the over 500 portraits of cyclists they’ve photographed during their 2 year journey around South Africa. Divided over 3 books, each will contain a different 55 stories, and also two essays each by local South African and major international cycling figures. The books are designed by Gabrielle Guy and they have also collaborated with celebrated South African artist Gabrielle Raaff to create an individual hand-painted watercolor map, based on Google Maps, to indicate the location of each of the portraits."

Check out their website here
Are they just the most beautiful compositions and people and bikes!
Wouldn't it be fun to do one of Manly!

rest

what is rest?
sleeping
being at ease
feeling in ones body and at peace
laughing freely
staring out to sea
the rush of the ocean as it carries you forward
snuggling under blankets
lazing in the sand as the sun kisses your skin
floating
being woken by birds singing
watching whales jumping high out of the ocean
a comfortable chair and a good book
being washed by the salt
being free to be yourself
turning off the phone
unhooking the interweb
doing nothing with my hands except for cooking and sweeping the water.

well  have felt in great need of some...
so I had Penny mind the shop and I headed off to here with a couple of mates, some porridge and some avocados and bananas.
I slept, I snoozed, I ate, I rode, I sang, I laughed, I surfed, I swam, I walked, and I slept some more.
and now I am back in the shop and happy as. Rest. Now back to being busy and Brave but with a bit more Balance and Balmy nights!
xx
