I met the beautiful Georgina in my shop a few weeks ago.
This is what she says about herself...
"i love designs that are simple, smart and a little bit quirky.
i like being different.
i like things with a story, a style and a quality that is difficult to copy.
perpetual reflects the one source of a love that lasts for always."
I love those words as what a business is about. We had a great chat about making and selling and beautiful things and balance and life. I squeeled with jealousy as she told me about SUNNY. Sunny is 1960 Sunliner caravan. She uses Sunny as her little shop at the local markets in Peregian Beach on the Sunshine Coast. She sells vintage wares, collected items and locally made goods. How gorgeous! It made me want to have a travelling Beattie Lanser Shop. Vintage too of course!

She also recently organised with her Sister a pop up shop called THE TWO GOLDEN HOURS in a big old homestead called Yandina Station. The house was filled with vintage wares and local handcrafted goods. Oh how I wish I could have gone and then rolled down some green country hills! Check out the post here.
I absolutely love hearing what other people are doing to follow their dreams and passions and share a lot of love along the way.  Georgina also did a lovely post on my here if you want to read.

I recently went to a poetry reading/word/singer songwriter Bonfire night at Desire Books in Manly.
I was so blown away by peoples ability to be so creative with WORDS. I know a lot of people who are creative with their hands and eyes, but words and mouths! AMAZING!

get on down to the next one this tuesday. I will remind you on Monday.

I hope you feel inspired today, wether it be with words, numbers, hands or eyes. Happy Friday!

Beattie goes to Melbourne

a little report from my trip in Melbourne...
I love melbourne. Sometimes I just want to move there. Everyone tells me I should. But then I would miss my little Manly and the wild sea. Lucky my sister lives in north Fitzroy!
Here is my melbourne roll: montenegro Amaro & Manhattans at Cure,  Shopping at Mr Kitly, lunch at De Clieu, drinks in the sun at Cavallero, granola at Beatrix, long black at Journal, coffee and shop at  A shop called Milton   home cooked oxtail at The Railway Hotel [while italian mama dries her socks on the fire], Market Lane coffee at Vic Markets, shop at Pussycat Black, Breakfast at Captains of Industry [if I was a man I would have visited the Barber and had  him trim my facial hair], Genmaicha tea at Cibi, North Fitzroy Pool, Shop at Peices of eight for my Birthday ring, North Fitzroy, Manchester Press with a new friend and outrageous coffee art with nipples!, Brunswick, Footscray, Korean Soap Drama, korean icecream, knitted turbans and beer with Lorena, Fashion weaving show at Alphaville Brunswick store and Pizza at Meine Libe Northcote.

For those of you in Melbourne (you lucky things) I hope you like my wanderings and may find a new place you haven't been to yet, for those of you who are planning a trip to Melbourne, GO! There are sooooo many gorgeous treasures to be found. It is a very cool city. Thankyou Melbourne for the good times and the sunshine and the smiles.

Interview with a customer

This is the first of a new spot on my blog where I interview some of my customers.
I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
First off, is the lovely Michaela, who I have only met through communicating on the internet, via Australia post and Instagram. She ordered a special Melon Pink Wool Felt Duffel Coat to ride on her bike in Winter in Melbourne. [who said those Melbourne kids all wear black and Grey!?]
Michaela is a Melbourne based landscape architect, designer, maker. With her postgraduate on the verge of completion, she currently divides her time between her work and study in landscape architecture, and her passions for photography, adventure and making. Her photography explores transitions in light and space, and the lived-in environment.

My name is... Michaela, but I am oftern called M, and Mich
At 630am I am usually... curled up in a pile of my favourite quilts, hitting snooze and wishing I could sleep in!
As opposed to Friday night when I am... heading out to find a corner in a cosy bar - in a lanewway of the CBD, North Melbourne, Northcote or Fitzroy.
My secret passions are... helping my mother dye wool, stealing/taking cuttings from peoples gardens, and Instagram.
At the moment I'm reading... "Metamorphosis", By Franz Kafka; "The Botany of Desire: A plants Eye View of the World", By Michael Pollan.
When I wear clothes by Beattie Lanser I feel... Like I can take on the black + grey of Melbourne single-handedly + win!
The last dance I had was... on Saturday at my best friend Klara's "double denim" housewarming. Lots of awesome fashion faux pas, 80s tunes + good food.
When I am bored I... bake cakes + cookies or rummage around the garden.
I wish I was better at... relaxing and enjoying doing nothing.
People think/usually say I am...too busy. Hard to avoid during my final months of Post-grad study!
If I was a car I'd be a... classic one. maybe a lovely 70's renault...
Summer to me is... sunshine, roadtrips, and making!
