Phosphorescence..
last night on warriewood Beach i saw it, probably been a few years since i last
we used to see it all the time when we came back late from the boat and it was dark and the wooden oars would pick up blue light as they splashed into the water.
beautiful and rare and special
Marine phosphorescence...Bioluminescence is exhibited by a wide variety of oceanic organisms, from bacteria to large squids and fish. The light is emitted when a flavin pigment, luciferin, is oxidized in the presence of luciferase, an enzyme also produced by the organism (the chemical system is like that of fireflies). The light produced is usually blue-green, near the point in the spectrum of maximum transmission...

Here i am staying at a little house in Fairlight and playing with old polariod style photos. I love how technology has gone forward but backward at the same time.

Mono Kulture magazine #20
Spring 2009
Dries Van Noten
Question put to him by Claudia Riedel:
"Apart from Designing it, would you also consider yourself a consumer of fashion?"?
Answer from Mr Noten: "It depends on what you mean by consuming, I think it is not a very nice word. You can use fashion, but to consume is really something you use and throw away afterwards. For instance, I love old garments and feel most comfortable when I've had them for a long time. Even when something is really worn, I have difficulty giving it up. The act of throwing it away is something I really don't like, because it has become a part of myself."
This is a beautiful interview from a Berlin magazine which I will share more inspiring, wonderful quotes with you over the next month. This Belgium Fashion Designer is sort of a guru for me. His ideals and beliefs about fashion i feel exactly the same on.

so you have seen my new shots for summer here and do you like the new photos? Well they were taken by my neighbour and local surf photographer Murray Fraser. He is one half of Sprout Daily, the daily photographic surf report taken from my home town of Manly. I love this little gem popping into my inbox every morning, especially when i haven't made it to the beach. He is one talented man. Sign up to get it here
This was one of my favourite shoots this year. back to the sixties
